Align Your Mindset: The Gift of Surrender
How can you align your mindset through surrender?
Surrender. What is it really?
When I was a child, I was taught that surrender was a bad thing. Most of my dealings with it came from learning about battles in history, from proud military men who saw it as cowardice.
They would portray those who surrendered as “less than” ideal. Wanting to impress my elders, teachers, friends, and or anyone else on the plane, I tried to never surrender.
I told myself all the stories and lies. I even had the one liners: “Mama didn’t raise no quitter!” It sounds funny now in retrospect, but it definitely wasn’t always the healthy choice.
Hitting bottom
What changed my views? Hitting bottom. Now before you scroll to the bottom hear me out. Most people, at some point in their lives, hit a bottom.
It can present itself in many ways. Any traumatic change can spiral into financial insecurity, fears, trauma, grief, depression, spiritual bankruptcy…. the list is endless and can manifest in many forms.
You can read an account of hitting rock bottom HERE.
For me, it was that entire list encased into one word above it. Addiction. My active alcoholism brought me to my knees in ways I pray you never have to experience. Why? Because I had refused to surrender.
What Surrender gave me?
When I think of all those years I was to stubborn to surrender, I cringe. Surrendering gave me hope for the first time in decades. It gave me a freedom from the bondage
Trust the process
Years later I stumbled upon, let me correct that, aligned with the Master Key Experience (MKE) course, where I got to embrace an even deeper level of surrender.
Confused, baffled, scared, and depressed, I started my journey with MKE. I surrendered to the possibility, that this might help. I trusted the process. I performed the tasks and created new habits. And life transformed.
While I wasn’t nearly as far in the pit as I once was, I was most definitely stuck. I didn’t know where I was headed. Changes in my career and my life had me questioning my identity. I didn’t know what to do or how to get there.

The act of surrendering, that “thing” I was so afraid of doing, was the key to opening the door.
Deciding to trust by surrendering my life to the divine process was the best choice I ever made.
Are you ready to surrender? When I ask myself this, I remember that with every surrender, I open the door to miracles.

Letting go and surrendering can be a challenge, many won’t do it for fear of the unknown.
