I woke up early today….very early, too early, and it was from a mental flood.
Last night there were several conversations with my family that greatly disturbed me. They are hurting with a physical illness and I am hurting for them and with them.
There was anxiety, fear, and frustration and there is nothing I can do to help any one of my family members…these are suffering times that we must let go and let God.
I sent them to scripture and I had my usual quiet time before bed. I read my Definite Major Purpose (DMP) and The Greatest Salesman scroll out loud….this did quiet my concerns for a time.
Do It Now!
Then at 4 am, I am awake again with all the anger, frustration, and mental anguish; it had returned. So what I did was fill my mind with my gratitude cards and kept repeating the “Law of Giving”, then onto the affirmation “Do It Now”, then onto “Wherever I go I bring a gift”. “I can be what I will to be”…….You have the idea now.
I was using the Law of Substitution, the Law of Growth, and the Law of Forgiveness. These 3 quick ways can help keep my mental house clean and nurture my peace of mind.
This procedure reminds me of the weeds in Texas. You go to pull them up and they pull back…I promise they actually pull back!! So you take another go at them and you just feel the ground holding on to them with everything in its power.
I don’t want to admit it, but sometimes I just cut the weed at the bottom letting the roots stay in place. Now we all know where that gets us in a few days…more weed, stronger root…
“So the thing to do is to have a mental house-cleaning and to have this house-cleaning every day and keep it clean. Mental, moral, and physical cleanliness are absolutely indispensable if we are to make progress of any kind.”Charles Haanel, The Master Key System, Part 5:12
Thank you, Master Keys, for bringing me back to work on the root and the ability to recognize the weed. In the Master Key Experience, we are given new tools we can use in these times of turmoil in our lives.
We must not just cut off the mental anguish and let the root grow stronger. We have the tools to redirect our thoughts to bring clarity and healing.

Thank you Joan for sharing, the tools we have in MKE help us do a deep mental cleaning
Oh, Joan! The weeds in North Carolina must be related to the ones in Texas! Thanks for the good chuckle AND the lesson behind it. I love this phrase you shared: “bringing me back to work on the root and the ability to recognize the weed.” Thanks so much for the reminder to USE THE TOOLS as well as your encouragement.
What a great way to clear the ‘ghosts in the weed/mind garden’ Joan.
Fabulous tools to use and so effective.
What.a powerful read. Thanks for sharing how utilizing a few simple laws can go a long way towards providing peace of mind via the mental housecleaning!
Thank you Joan for sharing. What a wonderful way to apply the MKE tools. Sometimes we forget them when we need them most.
Yes, Joan, I loved this analogy of weed and root picture and also loved “We must not just cut off the mental anguish and let the root grow stronger. We have the tools to redirect our thoughts to bring clarity and healing.’ Yes, I am so glad that I have these tools with me every where I go! Thank you MKE!
