September: When Life Doesn’t Look Like the Vision

September feels like a month of new beginnings.

Summer starts winding down, routines begin to change, and there is something about this time of year that makes me stop and think about where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going.

And honestly, this September has been a little different for me.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve walked through some struggles that I didn’t expect.

There have been things that I thought were finally coming together, only to have them change right in front of me.

Plans changed.

Doors I thought were opening suddenly closed.

And there were days when I had to remind myself of the vision I had written down because what I was seeing around me didn’t look anything like the vision in my heart.

That’s hard.

I’m not going to pretend it isn’t.

There were moments when I questioned myself, questioned my direction, and honestly struggled with discouragement.

But this is one of the things Master Key has taught me.

**We Don’t get to Control Everything that Happens Around us – but we can Learn to Control what we Allow to Happen Inside of us**

When I started Master Key Experience (MKE) last year, I didn’t know how much this journey would challenge me.

I certainly didn’t know that I would eventually become a Guide and have the opportunity to encourage someone else who might be standing exactly where I once stood.

I was simply looking for something different.

I was looking for growth.

I was looking for a way to change some of the patterns in my life and become more intentional about the future I wanted.

And somewhere along the way, I began to understand something important:

**A Vision isn’t a Guarantee that Everything will Happen Exactly the Way we Planned it**

A vision gives us something to move toward.

It gives us direction.

It helps us remember who we are becoming when circumstances try to convince us that we should give up.

I’ve had to remind myself of that a lot lately.

I had a picture in my mind of what my home, my business, my work, and my future were going to look like.

Then life happened.

And for a while, I felt like pieces of that picture were being pulled away.

But maybe the picture isn’t being destroyed.

Maybe it’s being rearranged.

Maybe God is working in ways I can’t see yet.

And maybe this is another opportunity to practice what I’ve been learning instead of just talking about it.

That’s the beautiful—and sometimes uncomfortable—part of growth.

We don’t learn these principles when everything is going perfectly.

We learn them when we are disappointed.

We learn them when we have to start again.

We learn them when we have to choose faith over fear and action over staying stuck.

And that’s where I am right now.

**Starting Again**

Not because the dream is gone.

But because I still believe there is more.

More growth.

More freedom.

More purpose.

More opportunities to serve.

More time with the people I love.

More room to create.

More room to build.

And more room for God to do what only He can do.

This September also marks a new season for the Master Key Experience, and this time I’m not just participating.

I’m serving as a Guide.

That means a lot to me because I remember what it felt like to be the person wondering if I could really change.

I remember having questions.

I remember being unsure.

And I remember someone else having enough faith in the process to pay it forward and give me an opportunity.

Now I get to do the same for someone else.

That’s what makes the Master Key Experience so special to me.

It’s not about having a perfect life.

It’s not about never struggling.

It’s not about having all the answers.

It’s about becoming intentional about the person you are becoming and learning to take that next step—even when you can’t see the whole staircase.

So if you’ve been struggling lately, I want you to know something:

**A Difficult Season Doesn’t Mean your Vision is Dead**

A closed door doesn’t mean the journey is over.

A setback doesn’t erase all the growth you’ve already made.

Sometimes you simply have to stop, breathe, get quiet, revisit your vision, and take the next step.

That’s what I’m doing.

One day at a time.

One step at a time.

And trusting that the pieces will come together in ways I may not be able to see right now.

No pretending that life will suddenly become perfect.

Because sometimes the next chapter doesn’t begin when everything finally makes sense.

Sometimes it begins when you simply say:

**I’m not giving up on the vision**

And that’s where I am.

I’m still here.

I’m still growing.

I’m still dreaming.

And I’m still taking the next step.
