All You Need is Love

minutes remaining

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

In the second full month of the Master Key Experience (MKE), the class reads Og Mandino’s Greatest Salesman Scroll II. In this scroll he describes the “greatest secret of success in all ventures.” And what is this secret? Greeting each day with love in the heart and making it one’s greatest weapon.

All You Need is Love

In other words focus on love. Love for everything and everyone. Love in every action, reaction, confrontation, in everything spoken and done every day. And most importantly to love myself by “zealously inspect[ing] all things which enter my body, my mind, my soul and my heart.” Achieved by not overindulging, being complacent, or allowing attraction to evil or bitterness, but instead by cherishing, uplifting, feeding meditation/prayer and sharing. Notice how there’s that give more, get more theme showing up again? Emerson has a point with the law of giving!

Personally I love how this correlates with my religious faith in terms of agape love, which is what Og is describing in this scroll. It ties back to the Gospel where Jesus talks about the second commandment, “you shall love your your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39).

And it ties back to 1 Corinthians 13 when Paul says “and if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

Much like when Og proclaims at the end of Scroll II, “without it I will fail though I possess all the knowledge and skills of the world.”

Agape Love

Agape love is where it begins, showing by doing, and making the self-directed decision to the share love that has been poured into our hearts by putting the welfare of others first, graciously seeking the benefit of those we love (hint: all mankind). Just like the Infinite Source, God, has done for us.

Guess it’s time to really focus on looking within, making sure each day is greeted with love. Because at the end of the day, “Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:8). All you need is love!
