Focus on the Principle

minutes remaining

Do you presently have a few things in your life which make it sometimes unpleasant or difficult?

If yes, I have a good news and a bad news for you: the bad one is that you will have to do some work to get rid of these things, and it may take some time.
The good news is that there is a definite and 100% reliable way to achieve it if this is really your intent.

At this point, some people may argue:
“Yes, but…MY problem isn’t the same as anybody else’s…Mine is REALLY hard and I don’t know anybody in the world who has solved it yet!”

And the answer which kills (the excuse, not the individual of course):
“Wonderful! That’s exactly the reason why you have it! Congratulations, the Source of All Good has entrusting that problem to you because It considers that YOU are the only one having the talents and the abilities to solve it!
Common Response: “Ouch!”

Yes, the Source of All Good is only there for our greatest good and has no such concepts as punishment or harassment, only a concept of cause and effect and unconditional love.

Yes, we are forced to always bear all the consequences of our actions, but we are also given the power to ask for and to receive all the help we need to overcome them.

So then, how do we do this?

The Principle

The full answer is in the Master Key System. I want to share a portion of Part 15 with you:

“There is a principle of Mathematics, but none of error; there is a principle of health, but none of disease; there is a principle of truth, but none of dishonesty; there is a principle of light, but none of darkness, and there is a principle of abundance, but none of poverty.

How shall we know that this is true? Because if we apply the principle of Mathematics correctly we shall be certain of our results. Where there is health there will be no disease. If we know the Truth we cannot be deceived by error. If we let in light there can be no darkness, and where there is abundance there can be no poverty.

These are self-evident facts, but the all-important truth that a thought containing principle is vital and therefore contains life and consequently takes root, and eventually but surely and certainly displaces the negative thoughts, which by their very nature can contain no vitality, is one which seems to have been overlooked.

But this is a fact which will enable you to destroy every manner of discord, lack and limitation.”

Charles Haanel, The Master Key System, 15: 24-27.

“Et Voilà!”

Do you see it? If not clearly, read it again the bolded sentences above a few times, until their true meaning really sinks into your subconscious mind.
The day you have trained yourself to focus your attention only on vital thoughts, you are assured, by principle, which means by Divine Law, to restore harmony and abundance in all areas of your life.

The Experience

Now that we are in line with the “knowledge” part, let’s deal with the “experience” part.
There are several practices taught in the Master Key Experience that can help anyone to improve, so let me just share with you one of them which works beautifully for me.

It’s about applying Haanel’s recommendation of “focusing our attention on the principle” by awakening and training our inner Observer.

There are two aspects of ourselves to focus on:

The first is to watch our words when we talk about a sensitive subject: are we speaking discordantly or harmoniously? Accurate observation is key and each word counts.

The second is to carefully watch our feelings when we do something in relation to or think about a sensitive subject.

For example, when you talk about your health, do you sometimes hear yourself saying “I’m not getting younger!”? and you have an unpleasant feeling of limitation in what you can do with your body?

Or about money, “I can never finish the month with a positive bank account”? or “Money doesn’t grow on trees!” And when you pay a bill, do you feel stressed because you fear that the zero of your bank account will arrive faster than expected?

Here is what’s important to remember: every time you notice a discordant sentence and/or a bad feeling about an aspect of yourself or about something you do, it means that some discordant beliefs are at work in your mental blueprint (your subconscious mind).

Hopefully, you don’t need to find what these discordant beliefs are, as according to the Law of Growth, whatever you focus your attention on grows…and you surely don’t want these discordant beliefs to grow!

Instead, you want to replace them with harmonious beliefs which will produce the positive actions leading to the happy circumstances you desire in your daily life.

The Recipe

The best way to start this ambitious endeavor is to make a list of all aspects of your life in which you have noticed a feeling of lack or limitation and/or a discordant language; let’s call this list for fun your “crummy list.”

Very common themes for most people are health (weight, eating habits, workout, etc.), money (lack of, fear of loss, fear of missing out, etc.), or relationships (within the family, at work, with neighbors, etc.).

Once your “crummy list” is done, choose the one or two most challenging themes on it and imagine the kind of feelings and thoughts you could entertain to bring these themes back to harmony.

For example, let’s suppose “money” is your theme of choice for your first transformation.

Each time you hear yourself saying discordant words or you feel bad or uncomfortable about money, take a note of it and transform it into its harmonious counterpart.

So, if you hear yourself saying out-loud things like:

“Money doesn’t grow on trees” then replace it by “money is always abundant” or anything similar that suits your feelings.

Similarly, “I am not a Rockefeller!” could become “I always have enough money on my bank account.”

“Money is a constant source of trouble” could become “money is my friend.”
Etc… you see the idea!

If you add to this practice the creation of a few mantras of your own about money and repeat them regularly, then your results may simply be spectacular!

Here is such a mantra about money that I added to my daily readings a long time ago: “I am grateful for the Source of All Good which inspires me every day to live my life by being paid to be myself”.

The Routine

In conclusion, by creating the habit of watching our words and feelings about our “challenging” themes in life, we can successfully transform a state of mind pervaded by lack and frustration into a harmonious state of mind focused on principle that will eventually fill us with all the benefits we are looking for.

Oh! Didn’t I tell you that it would take you some work?

Here is the catch: if you are like me, each time you will succeed at scratching a theme out of your “crummy list”, one or two other new themes will pop up….That’s because your Observer will become more and more trained to spot your discordant words and feelings about anything.

“Know Thyself” said Socrates…Two little words to embrace a full life of experience.
