Having FUN Yet?

When was the last time you felt happy and carefree?

The last time you really had “fun?”

If you’d like to feel more authentic happiness, there are any number of things you can do. Let’s talk about how especially important it is for us to open our heart to fun!

Why?

Because, joy, playfulness, and fun are some of the critical elements required to create a calm mindset, and that’s where our power resides. When you feel the light-heartedness of pure fun, you can begin to live your life in the flow, instead of against it.

It’s incredible how powerful joy and playfulness can be in transforming our lives! It’s easy to get caught up in the seriousness of everyday life, but embracing fun and play can be a game-changer for our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being.

For example, one time at a serious meeting, I had the group pick a card and talk about their answers to the questions on the card. I used this for family serious dinners too. It made the time fly by and we enjoyed each other’s company so much more.

Yes, they rolled their eyes at the suggestion, but afterward, they realized they were having FUN!

You can not entertain weak, harmful, negative thoughts ten hours a day and expect to bring about beautiful, strong and harmonious conditions by ten minutes of strong, positive, creative thought. Whatever you desire for yourself, affirm it for others, and it will help you both. We reap what we sow.

— Charles Haanel, The Master Key System

The idea that play is a mindset really resonates. It’s about shifting our perspective to approach life with a lighter heart, as if we’re constantly on a playful adventure. When we let go of the need to control everything and allow ourselves to just “be,” the possibilities for growth and happiness.

When I am working with those who want to heal themselves, one thing we talk about is having more fun and feeling more light-hearted as often as possible.

We speak about the power of laughter, smiles, and love. Leave the rest behind and concentrate on love, gratitude, and fun with joy in your heart for everyone and everything, including you!

So, how do you deliberately have fun?

Simply focus on making fun a priority… with everything you do! Become more playful, more grateful, and more loving. I often look through life through a child’s lens…

For example, when’s the last time you dressed for a wedding, I mean really DRESSED for a wedding? Did you include something special of your own for the occasion? How can you dress for the season or a holiday that’s nearby?

Why not check out the wedding party color scheme and match it? Why not wear that dress you bought for New Year’s, or your graduation dress? Why not a cummerbund and bowtie? Now we’re having fun!

It’s amazing how simple practices like laughter, gratitude, and nurturing a sense of fun can shift the energy around us. It not only uplifts us but can also improve our relationships and our health. It’s like the universe responds to that vibrancy with even more blessings.

One time, I walked into a birthday party near Valentine’s Day wearing a red dress decorated with red roses, one for each of the people there. Or you could have a flower for each year of their birth.

Everyone’s face lit up in the room. I was lit up too. I had brought fun to the party.

The power of belief is another fascinating topic. Our beliefs shape the world around us, and we have the ability to shift them to align with what we truly want.

The idea that our thoughts and words are creating our reality is so empowering.

Every thought, every action, every word is an opportunity to align with the life we desire. Shifting from limiting beliefs to ones that foster joy and peace is a transformative process, and it’s all within our control.

I see it when people remember how fun it was to be around me. “Remember when you showed up wearing the red dress? I do.”

I have found being playful and having more fun deepens our relationships. It also keeps employees more satisfied, and improves our health dramatically. The wonder of fun increases our vitality, youthfulness, and our level of energy. It improves our memory and concentration.

So the old saying, “Laughter is the best medicine,” is VERY real!

When you begin to consciously focus on having fun and creating all the little things in your day-to-day experience that create fun and lightness, everything changes. That new feeling of joyful, loving fun makes it so much easier for us to create bigger things.

How to Create Fun in Your Life and for Others

Be Bold and tap into your inner child and explore. Be silly, smile, laugh (a lot!), and make things “fun” all day long! This is a great step on your journey to joy and calm, where all of the magic and miracles abound.

When I am relaxed and happy, I get more accomplished and more productive. And I find I am able to get lost in my dreams… and best of all, watch them manifest and to even go beyond!

Thank you for being open to this blog to embrace the magic that comes from joy, love, and playful living. It’s such a great reminder that happiness is not just a destination but a way of being in each moment.

  • This is a great concept. I remember helping with one of the Kauai events, and Mark talking to me before it started. Candy, he said, I want your help, but one ONE condition. I was a little confused, but seemed simple enough… Sure, whats that? I asked. “That you have fun this week!” Nothing mattered if I could see the joy and enjoy the space I was in. Valuable lesson

  • You are a delight, Cindy! Thanks for these spirited/fun suggestions and examples. A mentor taught me years ago that when people are laughing “their brains fly open and they accept more things in”! One of the things I do is collect funny, punny, silly memes and I share one daily on my FB page. It is now a library where anyone can go on a gray day to lighten up! I agree–laughter is the best mind-body medicine!
