Mastering Yourself with Meditation in 15 min

minutes remaining

In the Master Key Experience we start with Part One of Charles Haanel’s Master Key System, and read that part daily for a week, along with a 15-minute meditation. Part One’s meditation emphasizes gaining control of our body.

In fact, Og Mandino, in our other book, The Greatest Salesman in the World, states that we are weak when we allow our body to run roughshod over our mind.

In the first meditation, we are instructed to sit completely still for 15 minutes. Yikes! But here’s why:

Haanel’s little exercise strips things down to the basics: are you going to let your body’s tiny impulses run your life, or are you going to be the one in the driver’s seat? When you can control yourself in stillness, you’re proving that you have the final say.

And once you know that? You can apply that same discipline and focus to anything.

Think of all the areas where this kind of control comes in handy. Got a habit you’re trying to kick? The next time the craving hits, you’ll remember what it felt like to sit through an itch and not scratch it.

Working toward a goal but struggling with motivation? You’ll think back to those 15 minutes when your legs begged you to move, and you didn’t give in. That’s resilience. That’s power.

This is a “Game-Changing Insight!”

So, sitting still sounds boring, doesn’t it? But here’s the secret: it’s actually a key that can unlock so much more. It’s not about the 15 minutes. It’s about what that 15 minutes represents.

It’s about building a rock-solid foundation of self-control, a calm, steady confidence that comes from knowing you are in command — not your body’s impulses, not the noise of your mind.

It’s like a little inside joke between you and yourself. “Oh, you think you can distract me?” You might chuckle when your foot twitches or a thought pops in out of nowhere. “Nice try, but I’m the one in control here.”

The Power of Meditation

Because, ultimately, if you can sit still and be master over even the smallest urge, there’s really nothing you can’t do.

So listen, you know how to sit still. You know how to master yourself. And that, my friend, is where real power begins.

Find your power through learning control. And if you need help learning this important skill, join the next class of the Master Key Experience and get hands-on support to guide you through adopting this habit.

  • Stephanie, I loved this motivation for everyone to sit in silence for 15 minutes as a way to be in charge and a first step to any life improvement. How delightfully you say: “It’s like a little inside joke between you and yourself. ‘Oh, you think you can distract me?’ You might chuckle when your foot twitches or a thought pops in out of nowhere. ‘Nice try, but I’m the one in control here.’” I’m sharing this!
