I was a little startled this year to realize that my best gift ever is intangible! Not only that–but the best gift was packed full of things I had longed for all my life. How could it not be the best?
Why my best gift ever is intangible.
I got to thinking about this during this season when our thoughts turn to gift giving. We imagine the best possible gifts to give those we love and appreciate. What fun! Part of the process is remembering the gifts that were the most meaningful to US personally — the ones we loved the most ourselves. We hope we’ll get clues for what might be the best gifts to give others this year. What will make someone’s eyes shine and bring a delighted smile of pure joy?
I’ve had decades of experience doing this and have always loved window shopping for what’s new and clever while enjoying the lights and colors and music of the season. But this year I was stopped before I started when it dawned on me that my best gift ever is intangible. Is it even possible to give it to others?
The ancients called it a “gift of the gods”!
I’ve steeped myself in fairy tales and magical literature from a really young age, so to hear something is “a gift of the gods” certainly does make it the most unique, the best, the most magical. In Lesson 11 Charles Haanel puts it this way:
Charles Haanel, Lesson 11, Master Key System
- The operation of this thought process is seen in those fortunate natures that possess everything that others must acquire by toil, who never have a struggle with conscience because they always act correctly, and can never conduct themselves otherwise than with tact, learn everything easily, complete everything they begin with a happy knack, live in eternal harmony with themselves, without ever reflecting much what they do, or ever experiencing difficulty or toil.
- The fruit of this thought is, as it were, a gift of the gods, but a gift which few as yet realize, appreciate, or understand. The recognition of the marvelous power which is possessed by the mind under proper conditions and the fact that this power can be utilized, directed, and made available for the solution of every human problem is of transcendental importance.
What does that mean in today’s language?
I love studying the wisdom of the ages that Charles Haanel summarizes in his Master Key System lessons. But they were written in 1912, and we just don’t talk that way over 100 years later. Let me put all that in today’s language.
People who know how to think effectively have a marvelous power. When they know how to use it, direct it, and make it available to solve every human problem, the results of their thinking are a divine gift that few without their thinking power realize even exists, let alone appreciate or understand.
But what they CAN see is that those who have learned to think effectively seem to be blessed with good fortune that gives them what others have to work hard for.
These gifted people know good from bad, act in sync with every situation, learn easily, complete everything with happy know-how, always live in sync with their best selves, and never seem to face difficulties or hard work.
How can YOU and others also get my best gift ever?
In late September of 2019 I hesitantly began a six-month master level course called the Master Key Experience. I had watched a series of MKE videos that helped me identify what was missing in my life, so I was intrigued by the notion that this “experience” would help me get those things. I would be given a gift called the “Master Key.”
But I quickly learned that I would not be capable of receiving this gift or capable of using it without conditioning. The conditioning had many parts that strengthened me in all ways. Week by week I read the lessons, studied and internalized the concepts, and did the exercises.
My assigned Guide helped me craft a powerful Definite Major Purpose. [Luc Griffet writes about the role of the Guide in the Master Key Experience here.] She, other Guides, and fellow students formed a “MasterMind” of support and caring where I gained valuable insights from other personality types from around the world. We learned how the brain really works and applied the learning to our own thinking, creating powerful habits along the way that truly conditioned every part of my being.

When I was ready, I received the intangible Master Key and was able to turn the intangible lock. My life changed forever and I am incredibly grateful for the gift!
Get the Key Free. Breakthrough, Too!
Through the Master Key Experience–after decades of searching–I’m finally able to learn as well as apply tools for mind-mastery. I’m using all seven ways we humans learn to anchor the skill deep in me daily, something I know I could not have done on my own. Finally I’m able to create breakthroughs I’ve longed for.
So I understand if up till now you’ve not had something like this and have been missing out. I skimmed life, too. If you’re ready to stop skimming and to start doing the deep work that creates breakthroughs in mind-mastery, I can help you get the conditioning that will help you accept the gift of the Master Key.
I’ve been given the privilege of offering a very special free tool to help you start training your brain to think the right way. The MKE course and its scholarships happen only once a year, starting the last Sunday of September. But you can get started today by putting your name on the waiting list for the next MASTER KEY EXPERIENCE course.
When you’ve clicked to do that, the 7 DAY MENTAL DIET comes up. Download, print, read, and try it! Once you sign up, we’ll keep in touch by email, even sharing tips of what helped us to do the Diet. Sound good? You can opt out at any time. But why not check it out now?
You know what they say–if not now, when? If not you, who? No one can get the key to YOUR breakthroughs but YOU. No one can get through what’s locking that door but YOU–it’s a YOU-shaped key. No one can make it work except YOU.
I wish you mind-mastery in your future because it IS the luck you might be desperate to take into your own hands. And I wish you all the best!
And in this season of giving, Shirley, how precious that you want to share this amazing gift with the world. Happy Holidays to all!
Thanks for your comment, Day! I’m imagining a world where more and more and more of us have the gift, eyes shining, mouths grinning in total delight!
That is a wonderful blog post, Shirley, thanks for sharing. I love how you paraphrased Haanel’s words in today’s language. It truly IS a special gift!
So glad you have the gift, too, Arlene and that we get to MasterMind together and help others find it!
