New Beginnings

You see, something had been in the works for a while. It wasn’t noticeable from the start, but gradually it became more apparent until, frankly, it was unmistakeable. Like most works in progress, there were days when it seemed like nothing was happening, then others when it felt like it was all overwhelming.

Then on that stormy spring night in Des Moines, Iowa, my grandson arrived. His first breath. His first cry. His first snuggle. Ah, that new baby smell! New Beginnings.

Our physical life begins only once, at a specific date and time (whether you know for sure when it is or not), and we don’t actually have much choice in it.

And while the birth of a new soul is indeed a miracle, even more of a miracle is that we are able to rebirth our mental, emotional, and spiritual self whenever we choose.

New Beginnings

“Renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

“They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31

“Be renewed in the spirit of your mind” Ephesians 4:23

Paraphrasing from Anne Frank’s diary, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Even more wonderful is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve themselves.

As Maya Angelou wisely said,

“Each new hour holds new chances for a new beginning.”

You freely choose what new opportunity you want to experience as soon as right now.

What have you been wanting to start? To stop? To change? Decide now to begin that new positive action that will create a lifelong habit, or commit to stop that time-wasting activity that you won’t even miss. End your evening with positive thoughts and gratitude. Start tomorrow morning by nurture your body with exercise.

For Bellamy Russell, every new day brings new learning, new experiences, and new joys. New Beginnings. I’m enjoying being able to help guide him through his journey of all his firsts, but each day also brings my own beginnings, endings, and improvement of myself. Join me and Bellamy, and together we can improve the world.
