Personal Breakthrough: Even When Everything Tried To Break Me
Some days don’t whisper their chaos. They arrive with storm clouds in their fists — thunder in your inbox and heartbreak tucked inside familiar names.
It started with a question.
Not to the world. To someone I trusted: “Are we still a team?”
Right as my heart was bracing for rejection, I got a reply that landed like a quiet lifeline:
“Yesss… We’re still a team. Ying-Yang.”
I should have exhaled. But the next storm was already brewing.
A text from my mother — not laced with love, but accusation. A revisionist history wrapped in guilt and control. “Return the $3,000,” she wrote, as if a lie typed in digits could define me. As if my decision to leave an emotionally abusive marriage and start again was a debt to be collected.

But here’s the truth I am standing in now
I did not leave to hurt anyone.
I left to save myself.
And that’s where the real story begins.
Because even while navigating a business partner’s depression, building a business from scratch, and breaking generational trauma in real time… I did not collapse.
My nervous system screamed, “This is too much.”
And for once, I listened.
I slowed down.
I let silence be my boundary.
I didn’t explain myself to people who never asked how I survived.
Instead, I wrote a new kind of story
One where I’m not cast as the problem. One where I’m not apologizing for wanting connection and clarity in the same day.
I am not too much.
I am not broken.
I am not crazy for craving love while building a legacy.
I am just finally choosing myself.
And that makes the world — and every lie I left behind — shake a little.
Personal Breakthrough
So no, I didn’t ruin anything.
Not the relationship. Not my chances. Not my worth.
I am still here.
Leading from power.
Healing in real time.
And reminding anyone who needs to hear it: You can walk away from what breaks you—and still build what saves you.
This is not the breakdown.
This is the personal breakthrough.

Yes, Arlene. I guess we could say STANDING TALL for herself. She’s incorporated so many tools Mark J writes about in that book.

“Everything tried to break me” are huge odds–I agree, Benjamin.
