Summer can be a great time to kick back, relax, and forget about learning. But it can be too easy to forget what we learned through the school term. When you are a life-time member of the Master Key Experience (MKE) group, you have the option to participate in a sort of ‘Summer School’ where you can study additional Master Key System material, mastermind with colleagues, participate in a book study, and more. I like to call it Summer School for the Self-Directed Thinker.
I believe summer can be a great time to review material that I learned previously, and maybe branch out on some new learning adventures.
I like to go back and read through all the Master Key System lessons. After having studied each lesson for a week during the MKE term, it brings it all together when I read it all at once. Actually, one lesson per day. But there are also ‘lost chapters’ that are only available when you are a life-time member.
Haanel’s Lost Chapters
This month I have been reading Lesson 28 of the Master Key System by Charles Haanel, one of the Lost Chapters. This one is all about magnetism, vibration, growth and love.
Haanel starts this part by describing magnetism, and how molecules rearrange themselves according to the law of attraction. Once he establishes that concept for steel bars, he transfers it to people. From Charles Haanel, Master Key System, 28:10-11:
What happens when one of the opposite sexes comes into your magnetic field? First, the law of attraction is brought into operation. Then, by the process of induction, you are magnetized and assume the properties of the person whom you are contacting.
When another person enters your magnetic field, what is it that passes from one to the other? What causes the thrill and tingle over the entire sympathetic nervous system? It is the cells rearranging themselves so as to carry the charge of energy, life, and vitality that is passing from one to the other, which you are receiving by the process of induction. You are being magnetized and in this process you are assuming the qualities and characteristics of the person whom you are contacting.
Sounds a bit like dating. Could that explain love at first sight? Or the animal magnetism that some people seem to have? Haanel seems to be making this conclusion.
We are not always conscious of this whole process, as the conscious mind can only gain information through the five senses, and love is not something one can see, hear, taste, smell, or even touch. It is a subconscious activity or emotion. However, when physical contact is made, the conscious and subconscious are both aroused, and every nerve of the body is brought into action.
This concept is somewhat esoteric, and I think I can understand why Haanel did not include it in the published Master Key System, and saved it for a ‘lost chapter.’
Then Haanel talks about vibration, and the mind or thought being the source of all things. From Charles Haanel, Master Key System, 28:62:
“Existence is like the output of a loom. The pattern and the design are there; but whereas our looms are mere machines once the guiding cords have been fed into them, the loom of time is complicated by a multitude of free agents who can modify the web, making the product more beautiful or more ugly according as they are in harmony or disharmony with the general scheme.
This brought to mind something from the popular novel by Robert Jordan, Wheel of Time:
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills.
The ‘wheel’ is their version of Universal Intelligence, at least as I see it. This book is a classic Hero’s Journey story, all about 5 young people from a small village who are thrust into the Hero’s Journey, all reluctant heroes, in fact. The concept of the wheel weaving is like Haanel’s example of the pattern depending on the harmony or disharmony of those involved.
I love how this lesson ends. To me, this is an ultimate message of hope. From Charles Haanel, Master Key System, 28:79:
Progress being the object of nature, and altruism the object of progress, the book of life is found to be a love story.
MKE Live Event
Summer also brings the annual Master Key Experience Live Event. This is where several members get together in person (or virtually if Covid has anything to say about it) and explore new topics for Self-Directed Thinkers, and to dig deeper on some of the topics we studied in the course.
I was fortunate enough to attend one of these events in Kauai, and another online. Both were amazing, and full of ‘Aha’ moments!
Hafid’s Ten Vows of Success
I think my favourite part of MKE Summer School is the Greatest Salesman 2 Book Study. During the 6 month MKE program, we study the book The Greatest Salesman In the World by Og Mandino. This is a classic, full of wisdom, and best studied as directed. That means studying one ‘scroll’ every month.
But Og Mandino wrote another book about Hafid, the Great Salesman. During Summer School we study this: ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World Part 2: the Rest of the Story.’
I think I like this one even better. In MKE style, we study the vows, see the links with the MKE concepts, and write our own Vows of Success, based on those of Hafid, the camel boy turned Greatest Salesman turned motivational speaker. For more info on that, here is another BLOG I wrote. https://arlenelaskey.me/mke-week-12-focus/
What’s Next?
Summer School is almost at an end. Just like a child going back to school, it is fun to go shopping for supplies, to look forward to seeing fellow classmates again, and it can be good to get a bit more structure into our lives. Summer School kept me engaged, but it’s nice to know that I will discover new insights each year when I participate in the Master Key Experience. Sometimes it feels completely different. That is because I am different.
If you would like to check it out, head over to our info page, where you can sign up to be notified when registration starts for the next class. More information can be found HERE. There is absolutely no risk. It only costs $1 to check it out. Then a time commitment to explore the power of Self-Directed Thinking. You might discover something exciting about yourself, something that inspires you to also become a Self-Directed Thinker!
It may be Fall now, but next Summer, we can enroll in Summer School for the Self-Directed Thinker together!
